Heritage and Rehabilitation Strategies for Confucian Courtyard Architecture: A Case Study in Liaocheng, China

During the past decades, many traditional vernacular buildings have been forced to be demolished or abandoned due accelerating trend of urbanisation in China, which has resulted regional culture, historical memory, and architectural narratives being gradually lost. The contemporary development courtyard-style architecture under influence Confucianism, an important form that carries Chinese remains unclear. To preserve these local this paper traces value courtyard houses.
